Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly are two American singer/ songwriters, both who were highly successful during the 50’s and 60’s.
Roy later enjoyed a resurgence in the late 1980’s with chart success as a member of the Traveling Wilburys selling more than 2 million albums and also released his Mystery Girl album that included the hit single You Got It. At the height of his popularity, 22 of Roy’s songs placed on the US Billboard Top 40 Chart and 6 peaked in the Top 5 including 2 No. 1 hits. In the UK he enjoyed 10 Top 10 hits including 3 No. 1 singles between 1960 and 1966.
Although Buddy Holly died in 1959, there have been many different versions of Holly’s Greatest Hits. Many singles and albums of his material have been released posthumously, beginning with “Peggy Sue Got Married” in July 1959 and the successful 6-disc collectors box set Not Fade Away: The Complete Studio Recordings, 50 years later in 2009.
